We are delighted to announce the opening of ‘The Arc’ our new project Stiuca, Timis County, Romania. The house received its first residents in December 2015. Unfortunately partnership plans with Eden Foundation fell due to its director’s health problems. However, miraculously Vasile, the builder of the property, and his wife Paraska stepped forward to become house parents.
We are truly blessed to find such a wonderful couple who have embraced their new role and have welcomed our four young adults with learning disabilities into their family. Vasile talks about the joys of how he now has daughters as well as sons and Adam, Ana Maria, Similiana and Florin, former orphans of the Ceausescu regime were invited to spend Christmas and New Year at Vasile and Paraska’s own home with their three sons. The four had a magical time and have really settled into their new life. Paraska is working full time for Epiphany Trust to care for them and assist in furthering their independence. Vasile and Paraska’s own children have welcomed their new older siblings, the youngest who is only 13, shows maturity beyond his years as he spends hours talking and listening to the others. Their son of high school age, boards at a school in another town and comes home at weekends. When he calls up mid-week to speak with his parents he also asks to speak to his new extended family. The couple have recently purchased a 7 seater car so that they can go out on trips and plan to have a family holiday together in the summer.
The official opening of ‘The Arc’ in Stiuca is on the 7th May 2016. If anyone is interested in attending, please visit our events page or contact us for further details.
